Improving the aquarium hobby by sharing knowledge and promoting conservation since 1967.
The Durham Region Aquarium Society (DRAS) was established in September of 1966 to assist in the advancement and improvement of the aquarium hobbyist. We held our first annual show and created a monthly bulletin in 1967. Today we continue that tradition with monthly events, an annual mega-auction and dinner DRAS also works with local, national, and international aquatic organizations toward the shared goal of conservation.
***Note: Meetings will be held at Anderson CVI until June***

Brent MacDonald
_______________________________________________________________
Brent was one of the top Discus breeders in Canada in the late 90's early 2000's. He produced up to 1,000 discus a month here in Toronto. He was an expert on water filtration and did his breeding in a central system using exchange resins and sterilization methods and could maintain a 700 gallon breeding system for over a year without a water change. Brent traveled to Germany two or three times a year to upgrade his breeding stock. He pioneered amino acids in his food to enhance growth and fertility. Additionally, Brent as spoken on panels across the U.S. and Britain with other speakers such as Jack Wattley and Dieter Untergasser. He has written articles in Discus Hobbiest and participated in the set up of several international shows here in Toronto when Bob Wilson was president of the North American Discus Society.
